Shipping & Returns

Thank you for shopping sustainably and supporting a local woman-owned small business! Your purchase is helping the environment by slowing down the manufacturing of new clothes, keeping perfectly good items out of our landfill, and supporting other small/slow fashion brands we carry. Due to the nature of vintage clothing, items are pre-loved/worn and may show signs of wear. This only adds to beauty of vintage and second-hand. Any major flaws will be noted in the product description. We recommend reading our descriptions carefully. Please excuse us if we overlooked anything major on your garment.

Returns & Exchanges -

Due to the nature of being a small business operating online and at in-person markets we adhere to a strict return policy. Please be sure to carefully read and note the details of what you are purchasing. Please reach out if you have a question about your purchase - or need help deciding on sizing. I am always happy to offer size guidance and advice before making a purchase.

We offer exchanges for online purchases of NEW MODERN CLOTHING items only. (This does NOT include socks or beanies.) Please reach out via email if you wish to exchange your item for another size or online store credit. Item must be returned to us within 7 days of your package delivery date by either shipping back to us, or dropping it off at Halite during shop hours. Item must be in original and un-worn condition with original tags to be eligible for an exchange or credit. We do not refund original payments, and cannot exchange or return NEW MODERN CLOTHING items that were purchased in person at Halite or one of our pop-up / market events.

ALL OTHER PURCHASES ( INCLUDING SOCKS, BEANIES & HAND KNIT GOODS ) ARE FINAL SALE. ABSOLUTELY NO EXCEPTIONS. This includes any purchase made online, in-person at Halite or at a pop-up / market event. We do not have a way to process a credit or exchange from an in-person sale, and have assumed you have tried on your item and have carefully looked it over before payment.

If something unfortunately does not work out for you, we recommend gifting to a friend or relative, or re-selling on a slow fashion re-sale platform such as Noihsaf Bazaar , Depop or Poshmark etc.

Please allow up to 5 business days for your package to ship. If you would like to pick up your order from our Lower Queen Anne studio space, please indicate in the "special instructions" and we will refund your shipping once your package has been picked up. If your order contains a "made to order" item such as a hand-knit beanie, please allow up to 6 weeks for your order to ship.

We offer flat-rate shipping to the US and Canada. We do not ship internationally at this time. All our orders are packaged using sustainable eco-friendly packaging and/or re-used materials. Our shipping labels are biodegradeable and our postcards are printed on eco-matte paper (100% wind-power manufactured and made from post-consumer waste). Once you have opened your package, we recommend peeling the shipping label off and putting in your yard waste and reusing our mailers to keep the cycle flowing.

Please note that once an order has been placed it cannot be cancelled. Be sure you have entered your shipping address correctly - as we are not responsible for lost packages or in-correct mailing addresses. If a package is returned to us, you are responsible for additional shipping charges.

Once your order has left our hands, we are not responsible for lost or misplaced packages.

Once your item has shipped you will receive a tracking number via the email you provided at check-out. You can follow along your package's journey and will receive a second email once it has been "delivered". If you are unable to find your package, or if it was lost in shipping, please reach out to the appropriate shipping company to file a lost or missing package claim. We do not process lost packages claims.

blaksands is not responsible for any import duties, taxes or fees due upon receipt of your package. Refusal of your package will not result in any refunds and any fees billed to return your package to us will be charged to the customer. We are not responsible for any lost, abandoned or refused packages and/or any additional fees that may arise.
